Fibre2Fashion: German textile fair Heimtextil launches online materials library. “The curators of the new materials library are London-based futures- research agency, FranklinTill. The Future Materials Library 2021 offers materials pioneers a platform and presents a first-class mix of economically proven and revolutionary developments. FranklinTill has organised the materials in four themes; Regenerative Crops, Remade Fibres, Harvesting Waste Streams, and Sustainable Colour, according to a press release by Messe Frankfurt.”
DigitalNC: New Newspaper, Chapel Hill News Leader, Online Now. “Thanks to our partners at the Chapel Hill Historical Society, DigitalNC is now home to 167 issues of the Chapel Hill News Leader. This batch includes issues from May 20, 1954 to December 29, 1955. Covering stories in and around Chapel Hill and Carrboro, NC, the Chapel Hill News Leader frequently spoke on events at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Northwest Indiana Business Magazine: New state website pushes available jobs, resources in cybersecurity. “Cyberseek Indiana was launched to address the rise in cybersecurity threats and attacks. State officials want the online resource to close the cybersecurity skills gap in Indiana and create new job opportunities…. The state said the website has information about supply and demand in the cybersecurity job market, heat maps showing locations of jobs and apprenticeships, and contacts for training providers.”

BBC: Facebook suspends Trump accounts for two years. “Facebook’s move comes as the social media giant is also ending a policy shielding politicians from some content moderation rules. It said that it would no longer give politicians immunity for deceptive or abusive content based on their comments being newsworthy.”

AFP: Cuban hip hop group shoots to world fame via social media. “With no other platform on which to ply their trade, 16-member Cuban dance troupe Datway (a play on That Way) have taken to Facebook and Instagram to display their unique brand of hip hop moves, blended with more traditional, home-grown styles. It has launched them to international fame, even catching the eye of Daddy Yankee, dubbed the King of Reggaeton — a Latin American music style that borrows heavily from hip hop and rap.”

Then an antivirus company’s announcement alerted the hackers.”
WoodTV: Genealogy sites lack diverse DNA, struggle to ID people of color. “Margaret Press, Co-founder and CEO of DNA Doe Project, told News 8 there are many reasons genealogy databases include fewer DNA samples from people of Latino or Hispanic descent, as well as black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC).”
